Venipuncture and PRF

Course date
17th May 2025
Course Fee
£499
CPD
8 hours
This course aims to provide delegates with a comprehensive, evidence-based understanding of venipuncture and Platelet-Rich Fibrin (PRF) clinical skills. This course will equip delegates with the practical, hands-on skills necessary to perform venipuncture and prepare PRF safely and effectively. Additionally, it aims to demonstrate the clinical applications and benefits of PRF in dentistry, thereby promoting its integration into clinical practice. The course will also cover advanced preparation techniques for PRF and offer solutions to common challenges encountered during venipuncture.

Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Understand venipuncture, basics of the anatomy and physiology of veins.
- Identify indications and contraindications for venipuncture.
- Understand the equipment and supplies needed for venipuncture.
- Describe the step-by-step procedure for performing venipuncture
- Comprehend PRF concepts and explain the benefits of PRF in clinical applications including atraumatic extractions, ridge preservation, GBR and bone grafts
- Understand preparation protocols for PRF.
- Demonstrate the venipuncture technique on simulation arms.
- Prepare and apply PRF, perform blood collection and execute the centrifugation process to prepare PRF.
- Handle and apply PRF effectively in clinical scenarios.
- Evaluate various clinical cases utilising PRF.
- Discuss treatment outcomes and benefits of using PRF.
- Apply advanced PRF preparation techniques.
- Identify and solve common challenges in venipuncture and PRF procedures.
- Implement safety protocols and patient management strategies.
- Learn how to carry out atraumatic extraction and ridge preservation using PRF and biomaterials
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the course, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively utilise PRF in clinical practice, perform basic phlebotomy and apply surgical techniques for hard and soft tissue regeneration such as atraumatic extraction and socket augmentation and GBR
Course Schedule
