Course Overview
This one-day introductory course is designed for all UK-registered Dental Nurses, as well as Trainees, to provide an insight into dental implant treatment for both those new to implantology and those with some implant experience.
What will I learn?
This hands-on course covers all the essential elements needed to gain an overview of dental implant treatment:
- Exploration of what a dental implant is and how it interacts with the body
- Introduction to the indications and contraindications for implant dentistry
- Overview of the stages of dental implant treatment

Dr Ekow Ackom-Mensah
BDS Hons (Lond) 2007 MFDS RCSEd 2011 MSc
Ekow graduated with Honours from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London School of Dentistry in 2007, during which time he was awarded the BDS Part 5 prize for academic achievement and the BATLAA Elective Award 2006. After completing a hospital post in Manchester he obtained his Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. He completed his Masters in Dental Implantology, with Distinction, from the University of Manchester in 2014.
Having spent time working in hospital, NHS and private practice, Ekow now provides treatment on referral across multiple sites for dental implants, oral surgery and periodontal (gum) disease.
When not providing care for his own patients, Ekow gets great satisfaction from lecturing and mentoring to postgraduate students and nurses on the topic of implant dentistry.
