Foundation Facial Aesthetics & Business Success is offered by I.C.E. Postgraduate Dental Institute and Hospital as a feeder/taster for our Level 7 PG Certificate in Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics course. This course is the perfect starting point for medical and healthcare professionals who wish to learn non-surgical procedures in a safe clinical environment.

Eligibility Criteria

Course open to a range of healthcare professionals eligible to practice aesthetic procedures

Participants must be registered with the appropriate regulatory body:

  • General Dental Council (GDC) for dentists
  • Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for nurses
  • General Medical Council (GMC) for medical doctors
  • Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for allied health professionals
  • General Dental Council (GDC) for dental hygienists/therapists and nurse

Registration with these bodies is required to ensure:

      • Compliance with professional standards
      • Adherence to legal requirements for practicing Botulinum Toxin treatments safely and effectively
Course Structure
  1. Foundation Botox Skills

The foundation of the course focuses on providing participants with a thorough understanding of Botulinum Toxin (Botox), including its pharmacology, history and uses in aesthetics. Participants will learn about the mechanism of the actions of Botox, how it interacts with facial muscles to create the  desired effects as well as the indications and contraindications for its use. The course also includes an in-depth study of facial anatomy, concentrating on the muscles, blood vessels and nerves critical for performing safe and effective Botox injections. This foundational knowledge ensures that practitioners can approach treatments with confidence and minimise potential complications.

  1. Clinical Practice

In the Clinical Practice section, participants will receive hands-on training in gold-standard Botox injection techniques. This includes a step-by-step demonstration of the administration process, focusing on precision and safety. Participants will practice these techniques under expert supervision, learning how to tailor treatments to individual patients and manage their expectations. The course emphasises the importance of conducting thorough aesthetic consultations to assess patient needs and establish treatment plans. Additionally, participants will gain knowledge on consent, documentation and the legal aspects of non-surgical aesthetic procedures, ensuring they are equipped to navigate the medicolegal landscape of the industry.

  1. Business Skills

The Business Skills component of the course is designed to equip practitioners with the practical knowledge required to run and grow a successful aesthetics practice. Topics include strategies for building and marketing a client base, with a focus on attracting and retaining clients through effective marketing techniques. Participants will learn about the regulatory requirements and legal aspects of running an aesthetics business, ensuring compliance with industry standards. The course also covers pricing strategies, cost management and how to optimise profitability. Finally, participants will learn how to expand their businesses, including planning for clinic growth and investing in new technologies and services to stay competitive in the market.

Course Certification

Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate in Botulinum Toxin and Aesthetic Business Training. Successful candidates will also be eligible to progress to our Level 7 Postgraduate Certificate in Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics, which is delivered in collaboration with the University of Salford and offers further development of the skills necessary to build and grow a successful aesthetics business.

Professor Dr Rabia Khan

BDS, MSc Oral Path, PhD Medicine, PgC Oral Surgery, PgC Med Ed, PgDip Aes Med, FCGDent, FICD, FPFA, MAcadMEd

Professor Dr Rabia S Khan is a distinguished professional in Higher Dental Education, boasting extensive experience of 14 years across diverse roles and institutions internationally. Prof Khan has held key dental leadership positions, including Head of Department, and currently serves as a Professor, Education Director and Research Lead at ICE dental hospital, where she is involved in programme management of more than 10 postgraduate courses, teaching and developing collaborations within the dental industry and with the University of Salford.

She is an eminent specialist in facial aesthetics, renowned for her expertise and exceptional patient care. With years of experience in facial aesthetic practices, she also serves as a Programme Lead and clinical lecturer/ mentor at ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute and Hospital, for the Level 7 Non-Surgical Facial Aesthetics course delivered in partnership with the University of Salford.

Beyond her leadership roles, her expertise and interests extend into impactful research, evidenced by over 60 peer-reviewed articles and several book chapters. She has presented her findings at numerous national and international conferences, contributing significantly to the fields of oral pathology/medicine, bioengineering, spectroscopy, machine learning, dental implantology, facial aesthetics, and oral cancer.
