3D Patient-Specific Customised Grafting for the Reconstruction of the Resorbed Alveolar Ridge
Alveolar ridge resorption occurs after tooth extraction due to disuse atrophy. Traumatic tooth loss, oral pathology, periodontal disease and denture wear can all contribute to accelerated alveolar bone atrophy. Long term research results and clinical experience have demonstrated that success of dental implant treatment primarily depends on the availability of adequate bone volume and a biotype of non-mobile and keratinised mucosa at the implant bed. Thus development of strategies and treatment protocols for managing a wide variety of alveolar bone & soft tissue defects, before implant rehabilitation, is a prerequisite for successful and effective dental treatment.
The overall objective of this course is to teach modern bone & soft tissue regenerative techniques for horizontal and vertical augmentation of the atrophic jaw.

COURSE AIMS & OBJECTIVES
The course will provide evidence-based protocols for the reconstruction of alveolar bone defects using different hard & soft tissue techniques including:
-Horizontal and vertical GBR using novel portfolio of Zimvie® biomaterials
-CAD CAM manufactured patient-specific customised allograft grafts
-Additive manufactured, 3D patient-specific titanium mesh (AccuraMesh® Zimvie)
The course will also cover:
-A critical appraisal of the regenerative hard and soft tissue graft materials
-An introduction to bioenhancement and adjunctive use of plasma concentrates in hard & soft tissue regeneration
LEARNING OUTCOMES
Course participants will be able to:
-Develop an evidence-based knowledge of different strategies used for the treatment of hard & soft tissue alveolar ridge defects
-Critically appraise the different classes of regenerative biomaterials; xenografts, allografts and synthetics
-Develop an understanding of the evidence-based decision-making tree for alveolar ridge defect management
-Develop hands-on skills on the grafting techniques of GBR, AccuroMesh® and 3D customised Puros® allograft
-Develop an understanding of the soft tissue augmentation techniques & biomaterials
