This summer ICE and Straumann joined forces in Manchester to showcase the very latest in digital workflow solutions and quality implant training and education opportunities
As Straumann’s National Reference Centre for Digital Dentistry, Implants Centres of Excellence (ICE) was delighted to be a part of the 10-day Straumann Digital Performance Roadshow in July, as the eye-catching Straumann juggernaut descended on Manchester for two days of digital discovery and live entertainment.
Clinicians, CDTS and technicians were all invited to join Straumann and ICE at Old Trafford, world-famous home of Manchester United Football Club, where they were able to step inside the impressive juggernaut and enter the world of digital dentistry. Featuring the very latest in scanning, milling and 3D printing technology, from leading manufacturers including Createch, Dental Wings and 3Shape, together they showcased exactly what is now possible to achieve in the modern world of digital restorative dentistry.
A special digital partnership
The Manchester Roadshow was not just an opportunity for Straumann’s expert team to provide delegates with a mixture of insightful presentations and hands-on demonstrations of the latest digital processes, but it included an exclusive invitation to visit the nearby prestigious ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute and Hospital at Salford Quays.
The overall objective of ICE is to provide education and training ranging from short courses, to university accredited certificate, diploma and Masters programmes in implant and digital dentistry, with the support of mentoring and hands-on guidance. As part of their commitment to ICE, Straumann have ensured their CARES® Digital Solutions portfolio, including chairside intraoral digital scanners, milling technology and the latest software and 3D printers are available throughout the ICE facility.
Making the five-minute trip to ICE was an opportunity not to be missed as visitors were able to see first-hand Straumann CARES® Digital solutions in action, including a chance to experience the latest Virtual Reality (VR) technology showcasing Straumann’s impressive digital portfolio and manufacturing facilities.
Attendees also got to see the ICE Hospital’s state-of-the-art learning facilities for academic and clinical teaching. Comprising a range of modern clinical training suites, a fully-equipped operating theatre for day care surgery and a dental laboratory, ICE’s commitment to providing an optimal environment to study digital and implant dentistry was evident. They make it their priority to invest in high-tech equipment and digital workflow solutions, so that all students are provided with the required equipment to carry out their training. They even provide the patients, so that students can concentrate on learning under mentor supervision.
World-class training opportunities
As Straumann’s National Reference Centre, ICE is perfectly positioned to provide the teaching and research required to help today’s dental professionals understand the technology and jargon associated with digital dentistry. With their support, today’s clinicians, CDTs and technicians can take their first steps into this new and exciting discipline safe in the knowledge that they can learn, discover and experiment before making that all-important decision to invest.
In November 2017, those looking to get ahead in the world of digital implant dentistry can attend the ICE’s new CBCT course. This module will be delivered in association with Straumann via a partnership between ICE and a leading University – enabling clinicians to enhance their practice using the latest computer-aided digital technology.
Completion of the CBCT module means delegates will have covered the HPACRCE-010 syllabus and be able to use CBCT-based digital diagnostic and treatment planning technology and interpret and report on dental CBCT scans. This stand-alone module results in a University certificate but also offers the opportunity to progress onto a planned PG Diploma or Masters Degree (subject to validation) by completing additional modules in treatment planning, smile design, guided surgery and digital restoration.
A digital success
The Straumann Digital Roadshow travelled to seven locations in July and has proved to be an outstanding and educational experience for everyone concerned, giving clinicians, CDTs and technicians alike a unique opportunity to get hands-on with the latest solutions for a digital workflow.
ICE’s strong relationship with Straumann is a key milestone in UK digital dentistry. Together they strive to provide today’s clinicians with the very latest innovations and skills in implant dentistry and the digital workflow, to ultimately improve the level of care and treatment our patients receive.
