This one day masterclass will expose the participant to the principles of soft
tissue augmentation and the treatment of minor bone defects when placing
implants. The principles of each technique will be covered using live surgery and
the day will include an interactive seminar based discussion along with simulated
skills training for soft tissue grafts and bone grafting materials.
The morning session will focus on the principles of soft tissue augmentation
supported by live surgery preceded by case base discussion and hands on
training. The afternoon session will demonstrate the use of grafting techniques
to treat dehiscence and fenestration defects around implants.

Professor Cemal Ucer BDS, MSc, PhD, Oral Surgeon
Professor Ucer is on the Oral Surgery Specialist list and a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI). He is an Honorary Professor and Clinical Lead of the MSc programme in implantology at University of Salford (2008–2015) and at Edge Hill University (2014–2018). He is a past president (2011–2013) of the Association of Dental Implantology (ADI). He is a co-founder of the ICE Foundation that incorporates the newly established National reference centre in Digital Dentistry, ICE Postgraduate Dental Institute and ICE Mentee School/MSc programme in implant dentistry. Cemal has been running the highly respected Multi-System Implantology Certificate Course at Trafford General in Manchester since the early 90’s where he has personally directed the postgraduate training of 100’s of dentists. This course has now been accredited by Eduqual at Level 7 as a PG Cert in Implant Dentistry. Cemal runs a secondary care private referral clinic for major oral reconstructive surgery including hard and soft tissue grafting and dental implant rehabilitation with a team of consultant anaesthetists, ODPs and highly trained dental care pMroifsesss iUonlaplse.
Miss Ulpee Darbar BDS, MSc, FDS(Rest Dent)RCS, FHE.
Consultant in Restorative Dentistry & Specialist in Periodontology Eastman Dental Hospital & Institute, London.Ulpee graduated from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 1986 and after a brief period in general dental practice started her hospital career in 1987. She successfully completed her training in Restorative Dentistry 1996 and took up her Consultant position in 1997 and became the Clinical Lead for the Department of Periodontology. Shortly after being appointed she also lead the Periodontology Academic training programme for one year. Since her appointment she has held several leadership positions at the Eastman which have included Clinical Audit Lead, Lead for Referrals and Lead for Dental Implants. Alongside her clinical commitments, she was also the Divisional Clinical Director for the Eastman Dental Hospital until 2013 and holds an honorary senior clinical lecturer position within the University. She maintains an active clinical practice focusing on the management of patients aggressive periodontal
disease and those with complex and integrated treatment needs with soft and hard tissue loss. She maintains an active role in clinical research and has published extensively.She is extensively involved in postgraduate education and training for dentists, specialists and dental care professionals focusing on the perio-implant interface and reconstructive challenges. In recognition of her commitment to teaching, she was awarded the Trust Chairmans medal for Excellence in Medical Education in 2011 and more recently was awarded the Director of Medical Education Award by UCL Partners Academic Health Science Partnership. She is widely recognised for her specialist interests in periodontology and implantology and lectures and teaches widely in these topics. She also holds a number of positions externally with the Royal Colleges and other organisations.
