Do emotions matter in improving patient care? This innovative interactive one day workshop is aimed at evaluating the effect of emotional factors on decision making and treatment outcomes.

Overview

This one day workshop looks at different human interactions and factors that affect delivery of patient care. The workshop will take the participant through an interactive process of what happens when things go well and not so well and how we as humans react to this and how this can influence how we make clinical decisions and their impact on treatment outcomes and interactions with patients. This will be delivered through a combination of interactive discussions, scenarios and role play.

Who is this for?

This workshop is open to the whole dental team – Dentists, Dental Hygienists/Therapists, Dental Nurses.

What will I learn?

At the end of the session the participant should have an understanding of:

  • How humans react to situations
  • How these feelings are translated into the decision making in clinical care
  • Different techniques that can be used to manage such emotions
  • How such situations can be pre-empted and managed before they occur
